Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the age policy?
At Nova Pioneer, we are very intentional about ensuring that each student achieves their full potential, and all of our policies are designed with that impact in mind. The Nova Pioneer Age Admission Policy is non-negotiable. It is designed to ensure that none of our students are at a disadvantage in their personal development.
The admission age to our Grade 000 class is age three turning four in the year of admission. Therefore, students are admitted to Grade 00 in the year that they turn five, while Grade R students are only admitted in the year that they turn six, and so on. This age must be confirmed by an official identity document or birth certificate.

What Curriculum does Nova Pioneer follow?
We follow the Cambridge International Curriculum. At Primary School level, we include elements of the Singapore Maths programme and use THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading And Spelling Skills) as part of our literacy programme. At a Secondary School level, students are able to complete their IGCSEs, AS Level examinations, as well as A-level examinations. Nova Pioneer offers A-Levels to external candidates as well.
-
What costs will prospective parents incur during the application process?
There is a R350 non-refundable Admissions Fee that is required for the processing of all Primary school applications, whilst there is a R550 fee for Secondary school applications. This is due before attendance of one of our Open Days or Campus Experiences. Results from your child's assessment shall not be released until the payment is processed and proof of payment has been sent to the relevant admissions officer.
Once your child has been accepted, you will be required to pay a non-refundable enrolment fee of R2200 for Tots through to Grade 00, a R3900 non-refundable enrolment fee for Grade R through to Grade 7 & a R4500 non-refundable enrolment fee for Grade 8 & upwards. When the scholar enters a new phase at the school (Grade 00 to Grade R, for example), a top up enrolment fee will be required in order to bring the student’s enrolment fee in line with the phase enrolment fee's value. This top-up enrolment fee is not refundable.
-
Is the Enrolment Fee refundable?
Given that the enrolment fee is used to cover some of the extensive costs that Nova Pioneer incurs to prepare for the new student joining, as well as for additional resources as they progress to higher phases, this fee (and subsequent top-up payments required) is not refundable.
If the student does not arrive for school on the planned first day of enrolment once the non-refundable enrolment fee is paid and the enrolment contract signed, an amount equal to the non-refundable enrolment fee will be forfeited and the parent will remain liable for the first term’s fees.
-
What extra murals are provided by the school, and does this incur additional cost?
Each campus offers compulsory co-curricular activities, and some optional, that are included in the school fees. These activities vary on every campus and usually take place during school hours. Please see your specific campus of choice to see what activities are offered for free.
Physical education is offered during curriculum time as well as after school by Fielding Dreams, an external professional coaching organisation with a goal to improve the health and wellness of all children throughout our schools. The services of Fielding Dreams are included in Nova Pioneer's fees.
In addition, Nova Pioneer works closely with a number of external vendors who provide specialised activities which come at an extra cost. These include Mandarin, Monkeynastics, ballet, karate, soccer, rugby, drama, Young Scientists etc. A full list of extracurricular activities offered at your campus of interest can be provided upon request.
